Slated (Book #1)

Rate:
3.5/5

Book Plot:
Kyla has been slated. Which means her memories have been wiped blank and she can’t remember anything, but unlike others she still has glimpses of her past life. The government claims they only wipe the memories of underage terrorists to give them a chance to a new and better life. In a world where people mysteriously disappear Kyla needs to be really careful about who she trusts.

Point of View:
First Person POV (Kyla Davis)

Book Review:
The book plot is quite unique and the world it is set in does sound really logical. Some ideas in this book actually really impressed me! Like the emotion control through ‘levo’ (Which is a device every slated has to wear) and the chip in their brain and how it works.
There is so much mystery building in this book that makes you want to keep reading. So if you are a mystery fan (like me) I reckon you’d like this book. The narrative is not the best and It is a little slow paced but at least you get some answers at the end.
The reason I gave this book a 3.5 star rating is because it’s really unique. Yes, we’ve had memory losses in other book, and yes, we had government doing shady stuff or controlling the people but this series is quite different and I can’t really expand on that without spoiling it. So If you have read the series feel free to click on The fact that having the chip in their heads on the dominant side of their brains can control them was very realistic and fascinating. That fact allowed Kyla to naturally deceive the government just by tricking them about her dominant side. This makes our protagonist fairly normal. She wasn’t born with magical powers that can resist the levo.
I think it’s only fair to give you guys a heads up not to judge this trilogy by the first book. It does get better and improve with each book you read so have some patience while reading this series.
Oh, and also, I don’t really like Ben… Anyone with me on this one?

Fractured (Book #2)

5/5

Book Plot:
Kyla can now remember her past life. She finally meets the mysterious man from her memories and is hoping to learn the truth. But the more she learns the more she gets confused.

Point of View:
First Person POV (Kyla Davis)

Book Review:
This is the only trilogy I’ve read that the second book is actually better than the first! It’s kind of crazy how that works but brace yourselves because a lot of the questions are going to get answered.
The pace is a lot faster and the narrative has gotten better. Which also makes following the protagonist’s story a lot more interesting. (I was just really into this book while reading it.) There is still a lot of mysteries to unravel and I couldn’t wait to finish the whole series.

Shattered (Book #3)

Rate:
5/5

Book Plot:
Kyla is on the run from the Lorders AND the terrorists with a new identity. She unites with her birth mother but little does she know her mother has her own dark secrets.

Point of View:
First Person POV (Kyla Davis)

Book Review:
The character development has come a long way! All the characters are a lot more interesting and I feel more attached to Kyla.
Just when you think you’ve uncovered the truth Teri Terry hits you with another mystery. There are so many twists in the plot which makes the ending really unpredictable, but it doesn’t confuse you. The end of the book does not leave you with a cliffhanger which was a big factor in my rating!
